KARRCPAU Consulting was born out of years of seeing property claims from different angles. Before starting the firm in 2020, Don Karr spent more than 20 years in the insurance industry while also building 15 years of experience in residential and commercial construction. Along the way, he saw something that stayed with him: a property claim can look very different depending on which side of the table you’re sitting on. The adjuster sees the policy and the claim. The contractor sees the building and what it will actually take to repair it. The property owner sees their home or business and the disruption that comes with having it damaged. Don has sat in all three chairs.

That became the foundation for KARRCPAU. The firm wasn’t created simply to write estimates or inspect damaged properties. It was created to bring practical construction knowledge and real insurance experience together when a claim needs a closer look. Don understands how a claim is evaluated, but he also understands what happens after the estimate is written—what materials are required, how work is sequenced, what can be hidden behind walls or beneath a roof, and what it really takes to put a damaged property back together. That combination helps KARRCPAU ask better questions, identify the details that matter, and produce work that stands up to scrutiny.

Over the years, Don has worked on all sides of the claims process—as an adjuster, appraiser, and umpire—and in construction he started at the bottom and worked his way up to project supervisor. Those experiences have reinforced a simple belief: good claim work starts with understanding the facts. A property doesn’t know which side of a claim you’re on. The damage is the damage, the building is the building, and the scope should reflect what the property actually requires. KARRCPAU approaches every assignment with that mindset—listen carefully, inspect thoroughly, document what is there, and let the facts lead the evaluation.

Today, KARRCPAU Consulting works with property owners, insurance carriers, attorneys, and other professionals on residential and commercial property damage matters. Some assignments are straightforward inspections; others involve complicated scopes, large losses, or disagreements over the value and extent of damage. Whatever the assignment, the goal remains the same: provide an experienced set of eyes, a practical understanding of construction and insurance, and an objective assessment that people can rely on. KARRCPAU was built from both sides of the claim—and that perspective is at the heart of how the firm works today.

With more than 20 years of experience in the insurance industry and 15 years in residential and commercial construction, Don Karr brings a unique perspective to property claims—one that bridges the gap between insurance, construction, and dispute resolution.

Throughout his career, Don has worked on all sides of the claims process as an adjuster, appraiser, and umpire, while also managing residential and commercial construction projects. That combination of experience gives him a practical understanding of both how an insurance claim is evaluated and how a damaged property is actually repaired.

Don believes the strongest claim evaluations come from understanding both sides of the equation. An accurate scope of damage must not only make sense from an insurance and policy perspective—it must also reflect the real-world materials, methods, sequencing, and costs required to restore a property properly. Likewise, a strong construction scope must be presented in a way that can withstand the scrutiny of the insurance claims process.

Since 2008, Don has held a Texas Independent All-Lines Adjuster license and is licensed for property and casualty in additional states. His experience includes handling large-loss residential and commercial claims, providing appraisal services for both policyholders and insurance carriers, and serving as an umpire when the parties require an impartial professional to help resolve a valuation dispute.

Being trusted by both sides of a claim is something Don takes seriously. His approach is straightforward: listen carefully, evaluate objectively, understand the property, understand the policy, and let the facts support the resolution.
