Matterport 3D Virtual Inspections

The Property, Preserved.

We use Matterport 3D technology to capture properties digitally, creating accurate, immersive, and interactive models that bring every space to life — a permanent record of how the property stood the day we walked it.

Using Matterport for Insurance Claim Losses

Photographs Show a Wall. A Scan Shows the Room.

Matterport 3D scanning creates a permanent, shareable digital record of the property — supporting every stage of the claims process, from first notice of loss through to final resolution.

A claim file typically carries a few dozen photos. Six months later, when a question comes up about what was behind the vanity or how far the staining ran along the ceiling, those photos either answer it or they don't — and by then the repair has covered the evidence. A scan answers questions nobody thought to ask on the day of the inspection.

Navigable 3D model — walk the property from any browser, on any device, without an appointment.
Dollhouse and floor plan views — see the whole structure at once, or a dimensioned plan of it.
Measurements from the model — pull dimensions after the fact, without a return visit.
Tagged points of interest — damage locations annotated in place, tied to notes and photos.
A single shareable link — one record for the adjuster, contractor, appraiser, and counsel.
Condition frozen in time — the property as it stood, retained long after repairs are complete.
What It Delivers

Five Things a Scan Does That Photos Can't.

Scanning isn't a replacement for a site inspection — it's what makes the inspection reusable. One visit produces a record every party can return to for the life of the claim.

01 / ACCURATE

Accurate & Comprehensive

Captures every detail with precision.

The scan records the whole space, not the handful of angles someone remembered to photograph — a complete record rather than a selective one.

02 / ACCESS

Remote Access Anytime

View the property from anywhere.

Adjusters, contractors, appraisers, and attorneys can walk the property from their desk — no scheduling, no travel, no waiting for access.

03 / EFFICIENCY

Saves Time & Costs

Fewer trips, fewer delays.

Reduces travel, repeat inspections, and the dead time between someone raising a question and someone else being able to go look.

04 / DOCUMENTATION

Stronger Documentation

Defensible decisions.

Supports estimates, negotiations, and appraisal positions with a record that can be independently examined rather than taken on description.

05 / COLLABORATION

Improved Collaboration

One record, every stakeholder.

Easily shared with adjusters, contractors, and other parties — everyone working from the same view of the property instead of competing descriptions of it.

Benefits for Both Parties

Neither Side Loses by Having the Facts.

A shared, objective record narrows disputes rather than fueling them. That's why we bring scanning to carrier engagements and policyholder engagements alike.

Common Questions

About Scanning.

How long does a scan take?

It depends on square footage and how many rooms need capturing. A typical single-family residence is a matter of hours, not days. We'll give you a time estimate once we know the size of the property.

Do I need to be there?

Someone needs to provide access. Beyond that, no — and that's part of the point. Once the scan exists, nobody needs to be there again to look at the property.

Should I clean up or move things first?

Please don't move anything damage-related. The scan is documenting conditions, and tidying before it can remove evidence you'd want on the record. Clearing walkways so the camera can move through is helpful.

Can measurements from the scan be used in an estimate?

Yes, and that's a common use. Dimensions pulled from the model feed the repair scope directly, which cuts down on the return visits that usually follow a missed measurement.

How long do you keep the model available?

For the duration of the engagement at minimum, and typically well beyond it. If you need the record retained for a specific period — through litigation, for instance — tell us up front and we'll confirm the arrangement.

Can it be used after repairs have started?

It can, but the value drops sharply. Scanning is at its most useful before anything is torn out. If work has already begun, scan what remains and tell us what's changed — a partial record beats none.

Want the property captured before it changes?

Tell us the property type and rough square footage, and we'll tell you what a scan would involve.
